Aalesund
ECCS Annual Meetings 2008 will be held in Aalesund from 17th to 19th
September. Aalesund is a small and unique town in wonderful Art Nouveau
style, located between the coast and the world's most beautiful fjords.
The conference and all the meetings will take place at the classic Rica
Parken Hotel, with its amazing view over Aalesund town, the mountains and the
sea.
There will be a Welcome dinner for all participants 17th September in the
evening. The Welcome dinner will be honoured by the presence of the
Aalesund mayor, and
will be held at Rica Parken Hotel.
Conference Parallel Session
On Thursday morning, 18th September, there will be a parallel session.
After lunch there will be a joint session. Session one is the ECCS Technical Meeting
with news
on ECCS technical activities, sustainability, high strength steels,
fire engineering and structural steel research & design.
Nordic Steel and Metal Stockholders Day 2008
Session two is the distributors "Nordic Steel and Metal Stockholders Day 2008" with the latest updates on the economic and steel market
position, European steel supply situation, Jernkontoret´s environmental research program, development of metal prices and presentation
of the mega project Ormen Lange gas field.
"European Steel Construction Forum"
In the afternoon
ECCS invites members, constructors, steel fabricators, steel makers and stockholders
to a
special event, called "European Steel Construction Forum" which will
discuss topics of common interest. The session starts with news from ECCS
market development and promotion activities, followed by success stories
of increased market share in the France and UK. There will also be focus
on some hot topics this year: One is CE Marking of structural steel
components and the other is consequences of EU´s Public Procurement
Directive and more intensifying environmental policy. The highlight of the day
will be a "Round Table Discussion" where Directors and representatives
from Steel Makers, Stockholders and Fabricators will discuss the material order and supply situation.

A historic year
2008 is a historic year for the
constructional steel industry with the implementation of new Eurocodes for
design of structures together with a new standard for fabrication. This
will be a great
opportunity to profit from new design rules and also a marketing opportunity
by demonstrating high-quality products manufactured by a certified
fabricator. In this conference you can explore topics of current interest
in this field.
ECCS Annual Dinner
ECCS Annual Dinner will take place 18th September
in the evening at the Atlantic Sea Park attended by Presidents and Directors of National Member
Associations,
steel companies and their partners. There will also be a live music
performance during the evening.
ECCS Annual Meetings
The ECCS meetings on Friday 19th September will take place in the
Rica Parken Hotel. In the morning there is the ECCS Executive Board
Meeting.
In the afternoon all ECCS National Members and Associate Members are
invited to attend the 2008 ECCS Annual General Meeting.
Social tour
On the conference day, Thursday 18th September, there will be an optional social
tour in the afternoon: A guided historic walk in old Aalesund town. On the last
day,
Friday 19th September, there is an optional social day tour: A boating excursion on Hjørund Fjord to famous Union Hotel Øye
and to Ekornes ASA factory.
